Me, Myself and I

Trayvon Matrin vs George Zimmerman:
I’ve read and watched several accounts on both sides of the argument and the latest is from Zimmerman supporters saying Martin jumped him before Zimmerman shot him. There has been debate about exactly who cried for help right before the gunshot circulating. I’ve also seen people complaining that mainstream media is using old photos of Trayvon in efforts of making him look more innocent and using Zimmerman’s orange jumpsuit photo to make him look more menacing.
I’m starting with the least relevant of these issues. I’ve searched for current photos of Trayvon and found the one above on facebook & found a nice photo of George. So, there is Zimmerman, looking sharp in his suit & Martin, in a hat (not a hoodie), taken in dark lighting… take a good look. Does it make a difference to you? It does not matter to me.
The fact is Zimmerman saw this young man (just barely 17 years old) and decided he was “suspicious”. Is Zimmerman racist? Only he knows for sure. Did he make racial slurs on the 911 call? Perhaps… Whatever caused Zimmerman to come to his conclusion that Martin “looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs, or something” is irrelevant.  What is relevant is that Zimmerman followed Martin for several minutes (against the express recommendation of the 911 dispatcher). What is relevant is that Zimmerman & Martin came face to face as a result of Zimmerman’s unwillingness to heed the advise of the 911 dispatcher.
So that brings us to the issues of who jumped who & who was heard crying for help just before the gun went off. Playing devils advocate, lets say Martin jumped Zimmerman… in a fight or flight situation what would you do? Stand up for yourself or run? Martin may have decided to confront Zimmerman and a fight may have ensued. Martin could very well have thrown the first punch and perhaps it was Zimmerman crying out for help but does that warrant a death sentence? Zimmerman knew the police were on their way… he summoned them. Why not wait and allow the authorities to do their job?
The bottom line is, Trayvon Martin would still be alive if George Zimmerman had followed the instructions given to him by the dispatcher. There never would have been any physical altercation had Zimmerman backed off when told. Period.
Zimmerman is guilty of shooting down an unarmed, 17 year old young man. Zimmerman is guilty of vigilantism. Zimmerman is possibly guilty of obstruction of justice. George Zimmerman must be arrested and brought to justice. NOW!
My heart breaks for Trayvon Martin’s family and friends. Nothing can be done to bring back Trayvon but justice MUST be served!
